Urges Govt to introduce Power Amnesty scheme for commercial sector

DOGRA HERALD BUREAU
JAMMU, Feb 23
Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Member Suchetgarh, vehemently criticized the incumbent government for its lackadaisical approach towards the deteriorating state of the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir. The industrial sector, he asserted, is on the brink of closure as a result of misguided industrial policies implemented by both the Central and UT governments. In a statement issued here today, the senior Congress leader emphasized that the industrious sons and daughters of the soil who have dedicated themselves to running businesses in Jammu and Kashmir have played a significant role in generating employment opportunities for the local youth. The industrial sector has provided livelihoods for countless individuals, offering jobs to lakhs of young people within the region.
However, Tony expressed deep disappointment that the present government has failed miserably in creating adequate job opportunities for the highly educated unemployed youth. He emphasized that instead of focusing on the establishment of new industrial estates, it is imperative for the government to redirect its attention and extend support and strengthen the existing industrial units within Jammu and Kashmir.
“By prioritizing the survival and growth of the existing industrial units, the government can effectively tackle the mounting crisis and strive towards sustainable development. It is crucial for the incumbent government to recognize the invaluable contributions of local entrepreneurs and provide them with the necessary support to revive and expand their businesses,” he added.
Moreover, Tony adamantly stated that it is imperative to improve the work culture and make the single window system more efficient, as the current implementation remains only on paper. In light of the devastating impact of the pandemic on the industrial sector, he called on the government to introduce an power amnesty scheme specifically for the commercial sector. The industrial sector has endured immense hardships during these unprecedented times, and the implementation of an amnesty scheme would provide much-needed relief and support to the struggling businesses. Tony called upon the government to urgently reassess its industrial policies, develop comprehensive strategies, and implement robust measures to foster a conducive environment for the growth of existing industries. He stressed the importance of creating a supportive ecosystem that empowers local entrepreneurs, boosts employment opportunities, and accelerates economic development in Jammu and Kashmir.
