Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu Kashmir unit today submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner Excise demanded the ban on the sale of liquor near religious places and educational institutions in the religious city of Jammu.
A group of party leaders under the leadership of party state chief Manish Sahni today personally met Deputy Commissioner Excise, Suman Sharma and informed him about their demands and submitted a memorandum.
Sahni said that the permission to sell liquor near religious places and educational institutions in Dharman Ngari, Jammu should be banned with immediate effect.
Sahni said that the distance between religious, educational places and liquor shops is being continuously reduced. In the last few years, it has been reduced from 500, 200 meters to just 50 meters. This formality is also being flouted openly. Sahni said that the religious sentiments of Hindus are being hurt by the sale of liquor near religious places. Besides this, sale of liquor near educational institutions is also attracting the youth towards drug addiction.
Sahni said that a demand has been made to close these shops with immediate effect and if a positive signal is not received from the department in the next few days, we will be forced to protest outside the office.
Along with this, strict action has also been demanded against the collection of more than MRP openly at most of the liquor shops.
Sahni said that the conversation with the Deputy Commissioner Excise was very positive and he hoped that action would be taken on above demands soon. On this occasion, President Women Wing Meenakshi Chhibber and General Secretary Vikas Bakshi were also present.
