Police arrests two Narcotic Smugglers with Illegal drugs

Continuing its relentless campaign against drug abuse, the District Police Reasi intensified its efforts with a routine naka duty operation conducted at Puria, Pouni area. During this operation, an auto bearing registration number JK20-4275, traveling from Pouni towards Puria, Domail, was intercepted for inspection. The diligent checking of the vehicle led to the discovery of 18 strips of Novotram (each containing 10 tablets) and 45 strips of Denpinol P (each containing 10 tablets), concealed within an orange-colored polythene bag stashed in the dashboard.
Upon inquiry, the driver identified himself as Gopal Krishan, son of Mohan Lal, hailing from Bharakh Tehsil Pouni District Reasi. The co-driver revealed his identity as Rakesh Singh, also known as Raju, son of Chatur Singh from Pouni. However, both individuals failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the possession of the tablets.
Subsequently, a Case FIR No 11/2024 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Pouni, marking the initiation of a comprehensive investigation into the matter. The arrest of the individuals was executed by SHO Pouni, Purab Singh, under the diligent supervision of DySP Headquarter Reasi, Neeraj Padyar- JKPS.
Mohita Sharma, IPS, the Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, underscored the gravity of the situation while sharing the details. She emphasized that the Reasi Police has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to combat the pervasive issue of drug abuse. The department remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate this menace from the fabric of society, leaving no stone unturned in its pursuit of justice and social welfare.
The seizure of the narcotics underscores the proactive stance of the District Police Reasi in safeguarding the community against the pernicious effects of drug trafficking and abuse.
