President of Dogra Welfare Organization, Amit Kapoor, has strongly condemned the power cut of thousands of poor people in Jammu and said that a big game is being played with the poor people of Jammu in the name of smart meters. He said that this is being done by Babu people to create anger among the people against BJP in view of the upcoming elections. He said that due to power cut, darkness has spread in the homes of more than ten thousand people and it is also adversely affecting the education of children.
While addressing a press conference, He said that this game is being played by Congress’s favorite babus sitting in the corridors of power to instigate people against BJP. He said that if they are getting calls from people that their lights have been disconnected, then wouldn’t the Congress, which has workers in every area of the state, have received any call? Amit Kapoor said that if the governments of Delhi and other states can give 300 to 500 units free to the people then why can’t the Jammu and Kashmir government do the same.
This is because electricity is generated in our state, hence the first right on electricity belongs to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should also be given free electricity. Amit Kapoor has urged LG Manoj Sinha to issue instructions to the officials to restore electricity to all the poor. He said that the Lieutenant Governor had assured the people that the electricity of the poor would not be cut off and had also said that the electricity bills of the people would not be high. Only after this did people accept smart meters even though there are no smart meters anywhere in the country.
He said that after LG’s assurance, people’s electricity bills started coming back to normal due to which people heaved a sigh of relief to some extent, but now the department has again attacked the poor by cutting electricity of more than ten thousand people. Amit Kapoor also accused electricity linemen and other officials of taking money from people to restore their electricity. He requested the LG to crack down on such black sheep sitting in the department so that people can get relief. Along with this, he asked the people to come out of their homes and come on the streets against this step of the department and he would also join them in this struggle.
