In a proactive move to enhance the vitality of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and broaden their economic scope, the District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) meeting was convened today with Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Paul Mahajan in the chair. The meeting commenced with a comprehensive overview by the Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Reasi, highlighting the ongoing initiatives by the various Department. Notably, under the Computerization project, 17 PACS in district Reasi have been equipped with the function of Common Service Centers.
Discussing the implementation of Large Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector, the committee discussed viability and storage gap assessments, instructing the Revenue Department to identify suitable state land.
For the formation of Farmers Producers Organization (FPO), Agriculture and Allied Departments were tasked with identifying crops in coordination with CBBOs appointed by NCDC.
In a collaborative effort, the District Project Manager NRLM will coordinate with the Cooperative Department to involve Self Help Group (SHG) members in the formulation of new M-PACS, emphasizing Tourism Cooperatives for affordable stays and food for pilgrims/tourists.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the registration of eligible Cooperative/Society members in the PM Vishva Karma Scheme and Skill Development Courses, focusing on tailoring, knitting, handicrafts, and food crafts. The DPM NRLM was further directed to enroll SHG members in PACS, facilitating local products’ forward market linkages through registration in the National Cooperative Export Society.
The meeting witnessed the participation of key officials ACR, Deputy Registar Cooperatives, CAO, CMO, DSHO, AD Employment, Asst. Director CAPD, AD Fisheries, DPM NRLM and representatives from JCC Bank and FCI among others.
