GDC Thannamandi Celebrates National Voters Day

Government Degree College Thanamandi reverberated with patriotic fervor as it celebrated National Voters Day with great enthusiasm. The entire event, held under the able patronage of Principal Prof. Farooq Ahmed, showcased the college’s commitment to civic awareness and participation. Organized by SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) cell in collaboration with the Department of Political Science & NSS unit of the college, The program aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness among the students.
The highlight of the day was a thought-provoking seminar, where academic excellence took center stage. Adnan Aqib from Semester 6th, Misba Dar from Semester 6th, and Rabia Koser and Saba Naz secured the coveted First, Second, and Third positions, respectively.
The achievements were a testament to the academic prowess and dedication of the students. Prof. Nusrat Farooq, from the Department of Political Science, added an intellectual dimension to the event with a detailed and insightful PowerPoint presentation, delving into the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
The formal proceedings were skillfully conducted by Dr. Mohd Javid , setting a vibrant tone for the entire gathering.
Dr. Naseem Malik, Convenor of the SVEEP Cell, expressed gratitude, extending appreciation to all committee members for their concerted efforts in making the event a grand success.
He emphasized the need for continuous civic engagement and applauded the students for their active involvement. As a token of acknowledgment, certificates of merit were awarded to the high-achieving students. Prof. Rumy Dar Head, department of English took Voter’s Day pledge from all staff & students of the college.
Principal Prof. Farooq Ahmed, in his address, not only lauded the efforts of Dr. Naseem Malik and the committee but also shared valuable insights on the essence of National Voters Day.
His detailed talk reflected on the democratic values that citizens hold dear and the pivotal role young individuals play in shaping the future of the nation. The celebration concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impression on the students and reinforcing the importance of active and informed participation in the democratic process.

Dr. Gulshan Rashid presented the formal vote of thanks.
