Electoral Literacy Club of Dogra Degree College in collaboration with UBA cell and NSS Unit proudly celebrated National Voters Day, emphasizing the importance of democratic participation and electoral awareness on 25th January, 2024.
The event featured a dynamic presentation (PPT) highlighting key aspects of voting, presented by Monika Sharma, Convener Electoral Literacy Club followed by a solemn pledge ceremony and an interactive quiz. The engaging PowerPoint presentation delved into the significance of exercising the right to vote, educating students and attendees about the democratic process and their role in shaping the nation’s future. The visual presentation served as an effective tool to convey the message of civic responsibility and the impact of every individual’s vote. The main agenda of the event was to make students aware about voting registration process and create a civic responsibility among the students.
The pledge ceremony, a symbolic gesture of commitment to the democratic values, saw participants solemnly promising to uphold the principles of fair and unbiased voting. The event aimed to instil a sense of responsibility among the youth, encouraging them to actively participate in the electoral process and contribute to the nation’s progress.
To test the knowledge and awareness of the participants, a lively quiz session was conducted, covering various aspects of the electoral system, voting procedures, and historical milestones in the democratic journey of the nation.
The quiz not only added an element of excitement but also served as an effective learning tool. First position was shared by Rahul Kalotra and Janbi Sharma of B.Com 4th Semester. Antriksh Choudhary from B.com 4th Semester got 2nd position and Aryan Choudhury from BBA 6thSemester won 3rd prize in the Quiz Competition.
The celebration of National Voters Day at Dogra Degree College was a testament to the institution’s commitment to nurturing informed and responsible citizens. By combining informative presentations, solemn pledges, and interactive quizzes, the event succeeded in fostering a sense of civic duty among the college community.
Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust appreciated the initiative taken by the Electoral Literacy Club & UBA Cell of the Dogra Degree College. The event was organised under the guidance of Ms Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College and under the supervision of Balwant Singh, Coordinator, UBA of Dogra Degree College.
