CUJ Organises Thursday Mind Meet “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Chemistry”

Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences, Central University of Jammu, organized a mind meet program to inspire and engage young minds in Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Chemistry.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, consistently supports and encourages such intellectual gatherings. Dr. Rajesh K. Thaper, was honored as the chief guest and lead panellist of this discussion. Professor V. Sridharan, Head of the Department, warmly greeted the esteemed audience and provided an introduction to the topic of discussion.
Dr. Tapta Kanchan Roy, Assistant professor invited the guest for sharing his ideas related to topics of interest. The innovative presentation was given by Dr. Rajesh K. Thaper, where he highlighted the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in Chemistry, the demand of scientists entering into entrepreneurship, role of pharmaceutical labs to develop drugs and much more.
To enhance the importance of this event, Co-Patron Prof. Vinay Kumar, the Dean of the School of Basic and Applied Sciences, graced the occasion with his presence. The convener of this program, Prof. Vandana Sharma, Dean of the School of Languages, also motivated the young students, encouraging them to value such opportunities for exposure.
In the next segment, Dr. Roy, the moderator, graciously introduced the talented panel and extended an invitation for an engaging panel discussion. The faculty collectively dedicated their efforts to enhance the panel discussion. The panel, which included young scholars, faculty members, and external expert, Dr. Rajesh K. Thaper, engaged in a meaningful discussion, exchanging ideas, insights, and information related to the topic of interest. Along with the external expert and the moderator, the panel of discussion was consist of a faculty panellist Dr. Sujata Kundan, two Research scholars, Ms. Shivani Manhas and Mr. Pawan Kumar, along with M.Sc. students Zuhaib Mughal and Vikas Katoch, and a B.Sc. student Shakshi Devi.
The participants engaged in a thorough discussion on various ideas and innovations in the field of Chemistry. Subsequently, small interaction sessions took place between students and panelists, and the program concluded with vote of thanks from Associate professor, Dr.Kamlesh Kumar. Overall, the occasion emphasized the progress in chemistry-related innovation and entrepreneurship, resulting in notable advancements across different sectors such as pharmaceuticals, materials science, energy, and environmental protection.
