National Girl Child’s Day is celebrated every year on the 24th of January to create awareness about the rights of the girl child, to remove gender-based bias, and education of girl child.
To mark the celebrations of National Girl Child Day, a spirited “Rally cum Awareness Program” was organized by the Department of Arts in collaboration with Equal Opportunity Cell and UBA Cell of Dogra Degree College in adopted Village Upper Kartholi to boost the cause of empowering and uplifting the girl child.
The event held on 24th January, was a collaborative effort by UBA Cell and Equal Opportunity Cell, aimed at fostering awareness and advocating for the rights, education, and well-being of girls in the community.
The lively rally commenced at Panchayat Ghar of Uppar Kartholi and traversed through the heart of the village, drawing attention to the importance of nurturing and supporting the girl child. Participants, including 30 UBA student Volunteers, representatives of the Village, College Faculty members, and volunteers, carried placards with empowering messages, symbolizing unity and commitment towards gender equality.
Equal Opportunity Cell and UBA Cell implemented various outreach initiatives during the event, providing information on essential topics such as education, health, and legal rights for girls, addressing concerns, and encouraging community involvement in fostering an environment that promotes gender equality.
Tarseem Singh, Sarpanch of Upper Kartholi supported the initiative, highlighting the students’ dedication to social responsibility and gender inclusivity.
National Girl Child Day serves as a poignant reminder of the untapped potential within every girl. The Rally and awareness program aimed to ignite change at the grassroots level, fostering an environment where every girl can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
The event Rally cum awareness Program on National Girl Child Day was organized by Monika Sharma Convener, Equal Opportunity Cell ably assisted by Balwant Singh, PI Coordinator, UBA & Simran Thakur Member, NSS.
The rally had the full support of Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal of Dogra Degree College who appreciated the participants and collective efforts of UBA Cell and Equal Opportunity Cell for successfully conducting the event.
