National level training program commences at SMVDU

NEP 2020 Orientation & Sensitization Program was inaugurated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. The eight-day program, organized by the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC)-SMVU, is aimed at enhancing the quality of education at all levels by instilling excellence among teachers from various parts of the country.
The participating faculty members will undergo training that provides a comprehensive perspective and an all-encompassing framework for higher education in the country. The suggested system is rooted in Indian traditions and value systems, aligning with the intended outcomes of 21st-century education, including sustainable development goals and holistic development.
The Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the role of NEP-2020 in various aspects of education. This includes the shift towards multidisciplinary and holistic education, institutional autonomy, promotion of quality research through the establishment of the National Research Foundation, and continuous professional upliftment. Prof. Supran Kumar Sharma, Director of MMTTC-SMVDU, highlighted the necessity of sensitizing faculty members to realize their instrumental role in building futuristic institutions in the Indian education ecosystem. He discussed the higher education changes envisioned by NEP 2020, emphasizing the need to strengthen the role of faculty.
The program, conducted by Dr. Sunanda, included an introduction to the facilities available at the University by Dr. Sharada Potukuchi, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Ankush Anand. The eight-day event consists of 16 technical sessions, with invited speakers selected from various institutions across the country. The speakers aim to elucidate the need for training and skills impartation to faculty members for the successful implementation of NEP-2020. The national character of the event is evident, with participants hailing from different universities, including Delhi University, Manipur University, Chandigarh University, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Cluster University, Srinagar, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, Guru Jambheshvar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, etc.
