SSP Traffic Rural Jammu Vinay Kumar accompanied by Dy. SP Traffic Samba-Kathua Javed IqbalTabassam,Shri Dimple Sharma Managing Director of Baba BalakNath Hr. Secondary School Vijaypur( Samba) organized a Traffic awareness programme today on 19.01.2024, in which, jurisdictional DTIs/SOs (T) and the students/teaching staff were also present. During the awareness programme Shri Vinay Kumar, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu advised that while purchasing a vehicle they shall provide valid/functional contact numbers/residential address to the registration/transferring authorities so that they can link their contact number on VAHAN/Parivahan portal for future facilitation. He further stated that the valid mobile number of registered owner of vehicle is mandatory to keep a track of any registration related services. It was also informed to the students/teachers that an e-challan is sent to traffic violator, if have knowingly or unknowingly committed a traffic violation while plying their vehicles. In the present digitalization era, the e-challanis sent as an SMS alert to the registered mobile number or physical challan is sent at registered address. From the date of issue of the challan, the fine has to be paid within fixed period and in case of failing to make the payment in time the challan is forwarded to the traffic courts for legal action under rules. The fine could increase if the challan fine is not paid within the stipulated time or may lead to legal action by the courts., There may be instances where you may have unknowingly deleted the SMS or you may have forgotten to clear the fine and for the same online option are available to see the details of their vehicle on parivahan/VAHAN portal. A non-payment of traffic e-challan go to traffic court. As such the students who ply four/two wheeler are advised that they shall update their valid/functional contact numbers on the VAHAN/mPARIVAHANportal.
SSP Traffic Rural Jammu further added that tyres of the vehicles must be in good condition and fitness of the vehicles be regularly checked to avoid accidents.
He further advised that the public whose mobile numbers are not valid does not receive any message regarding traffic violation and consequently the vehicles are blacklisted by transport authorities viz RTO/ARTOs. To avoid such practices the people should visit WWW.parivahan.goiv. in or VAHAN/SARTHI portal and update/link their functional contact numbers with concerned transport authorities or on the related available websites to avert any inconvenient.
He advised the students of the school to follow the Traffic Rules for their own safety as well as safety of general public to avoid any untoward incident. He also advised the students not to indulge in stunt biking/ overspeeding/rash/dangerous driving, as this can prove fatal for them and their family and also advised to use helmet while driving two wheelers and seat belt while driving four wheelers.
SSP Traffic Rural Jammu said that Traffic Police Rural Jammu has left no stone unturned to check all the Traffic related menace in order to avoid the traffic jamming, as well as, accidents/incidents.
SSP Traffic Rural Jammu urged upon the participants particularly youth/young students as a whole to participate in this process and to take responsibility for hassle free movement of vehicles being responsible citizens.
He further stated that thousands of challans are lying pending in the Hon’ble Traffic Courts and non disposal in due course of time would lead to cancellation/suspension of route permits/DLs.

The Managing Director Shri Dimple Sharma alongwithstaff and students applauded the role of Traffic Police in maintaining smooth & free flow of traffic. Lastly, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu thanked the Managing Director for inviting and his team to organize Traffic awareness programme.
