Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leaders Vijay Lochan Chairman JKNC SC Cell and Rakesh Singh Raka JKNC Central Zone Vice President JKNC Jammu have strongly condemned the ‘Wall Writing Campaign’ initiated by Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership in Jammu and Kashmir UnionTerritory. They claimed that by resorting to such practice the saffron party has demeaned even the so called Smart Cities projects of Jammu and Srinagar. They said that though not much work has been witnessed on ground upon the so called Smart Cities projects till date, the National Conference leaders feel that these BJP leaders are hell bent upon whitewashing the meager development if any under the project across Jammu City.
In a joint statement issued to media here today, the JKNC leaders while terming the action of the saffron party leaders as mere defacement of walls asserted that such activities amount to the blatant violation under the Municipal Act in force in J&K. They emphasized that the defacement of walls facing roads and public places under law is an offence that invites strict punishment. The violators shall even be liable for prosecution and fine extending to Rs. 5 lakh and in case of continuing offence/contravention, the offender shall be liable for a recurring fine for every day after the first conviction during which he has persisted in the failure of contravention. Questioning the BJP leaders on the aforesaid issue, Vijay Lochan and Rakesh Raka asked “Can the BJP which resorts to such blatant violation of law do any good for the welfare of the people?”
The NC leaders claimed that the people of J&K being the worst sufferers under the ongoing BJP rule today feel highly dismayed and pessimistic about their future in view of the saffron party betraying their trust. This has resulted in loss of political space to the BJP in J&K especially in Jammu. They said that BJP is living in a fools’ paradise with its leaders thinking that such campaigns will enable them to gain the lost ground in political arena. The fact remains that these campaigns are only further exposing the misdeeds of the party under its misrule especially in a sensitive region like J&K, they asserted.
