In a heartwarming meeting at the Police Welfare Complex in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, a delegation led by Rajesh Sharma, the founder trustee of Sunrise Public School Institute of Education unit of Sunrise Educational Trust, had a productive interaction with Prof Rasmita Das Swain, the President of the Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Rajesh Sharma, accompanied by dedicated teachers including Smt Asha Rani, Mrs Radha Gupta, Mrs Pinky Malhotra, Mrs Nisha Devi, Miss Zuberi Shaikh, and Mrs Hamreen Kour, conveyed the noble work being undertaken by the Sunrise Educational Trust. Sharma shared the remarkable journey of the school, which started with a modest enrollment of 8 to 10 girls and boys. Over the years, the school has grown substantially, now catering to 203 underprivileged children residing in slum areas of Jammu urban since 2012.
Highlighting the pivotal role of the school, Sharma emphasized that it provides free education, books, uniforms, and refreshments to the students. He revealed the ambitious plan of expanding into a residential school, offering free education, lodging, and boarding up to the 12th standard. Beyond that, students will have the opportunity to pursue professional courses based on their capabilities. Sharma mentioned that the trust has already applied for land in JDA Jammu and identified a suitable location in Nagrota for the future expansion. Prof Rasmita Das Swain, President PWWA, attentively listened to the delegation’s presentation and expressed admiration for the commendable efforts of the Sunrise Educational Trust, teachers, and staff. She assured the delegation of all possible support in the future and provided valuable suggestions, including the initiation of skill development programs and schemes for women empowerment. The meeting concluded on a positive note as Smt Asha Rani extended an invitation to Prof Rasmita Das Swain to visit their school and presented her with flowers as a gesture of appreciation. The interaction showcased the collaborative spirit between the education sector and the Police Wives Welfare Association, fostering a sense of community and support for the underprivileged children in Jammu.
