A tribute ceremony was organized at the Akhnoor Congress office on Saturday to mark the third death anniversary of senior Congress leader, late former MP Madan Lal Sharma. In the meeting held at the Congress office, Satish Sharma, son of Congress leader and former MP Madan Lal Sharma, Akhnoor Assembly in-charge Kuldeep Sharma, Block President Akhnoor Mohan Lal Bhagat, Block President Bhalwal Om Prakash Sharma, Prabhu Singh, Prem Singh Chib, Madan Lal Pargwalia, Krishan Dutt Khajuria, Retired ZEO Baldev Raj along with others paid floral tributes to Madan Lal Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, Kuldeep Sharma said that late Madan Lal Sharma belonged to a small village in the border area of Jammu. He continued his entire life in struggle. He worked for the betterment of the nation while being in Congress and the development work done by him in the border area will be remembered.
Congress leader Prabhu Singh said that Madan Lal Sharma believed in taking everyone along. He said that the development work done by Madan Lal Sharma in Jammu division will be remembered for centuries. He extended the network of roads to the frontier areas. He used to raise every issue of Jammu and Kashmir with great enthusiasm in the Delhi Parliament. Which was of great benefit to the people. It is sad that he is not among us today, whose absence can never be filled. Akhnoor Block President Mohan Lal Bhagat said that late Madan Lal Sharma, MP from Jammu Poonch Lok Sabha seat as well as cabinet minister in Jammu and Kashmir government, has always been a source of inspiration for the party workers. The way he lived among the people and worked for the development of the region along with serving them during his political career is extraordinary. Late Madan lal Sharma, born in an ordinary family, has also served in the Indian Army. Also, the struggle he fought during his lifetime for the development of Jammu as well as to solve the problems of the border people was extraordinary. Madan Lal Sharma’s son and Congress leader Satish Sharma said that Madan Sharma was always ready to serve the people and he always raised the voice of the poor and helpless people. He said that while being an MP, he raised the problems of the people of the border areas with all his might in the Parliament, due to which the border people got plots as well as reservation at safe places. He said that the signs of Madan Lal Sharma’s foresight are still visible in the roads, hospitals, schools etc. built in Akhnoor and Khour. He said that in his last days, he took a promise from me to serve the people of this area and I am present among them day and night to serve the people of the area by following the path shown by him. He said that Madan Lal Sharma was a great leader of the party and along with himself, he groomed many more leaders to the party and Jammu and Kashmir from this border area.
Pawan Sharma, Atul Sharma, Ranjan Bhagat, Rajesh Sharma, Kamal Sharma, Govind Ram, Subhash Chandra, Ajay Kumar, Madan Lal, Des Raj, Sham Lal, Ashok Kumar etc. were present on this occasion.
