Sham Lal Langer, Convenor Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Trade Cell, Jammu and Kashmir, has asserted that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP Govt has been spending the revenue collected in the form of Goods and Services Tax (GST) most judiciously in development of the nation. He said that the nation today is witnessing unprecedented development in all sectors which people can easily judge from the ground scenario.
“It is because of the encouraging results in terms of tax collection as part of the people friendly policies that the number of GST return filers rose about 65 per cent to 1.13 crore in 5 years till April 2023 as compliance by taxpayers improved considerably during the aforesaid period,” he added.
The senior BJP leader said that the number of active taxpayers registered under GST increased from 1.06 crore in April 2018, to 1.40 crore and for this credit goes to the effective policy and systemic changes in GST. This proves that the compliance of GST return filing too has improved over the years, he claimed. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has been receiving special attention of the PM Modi led Govt at the Centre and the people are quite happy with the massive spending on developmental works in this Union Territory never ever witnessed before.
Sham Langer said that the Union Govt and the Union Territory Administration are relentlessly working in complete synergy towards bringing an unprecedented developmental transformation in every sector ensuring that every penny of tax payers’ money is spent for development in J&K and prosperity and welfare of its people.
He said that, the transformative changes brought across the nation especially in J&K display the government’s dedication to its citizens’ welfare besides demonstrating its understanding of the political economy.
“It is the result of this that during the past over nine years, substantial progress has been made by the incumbent Govt in terms of tax collection that ultimately led to massive development across the nation,” he added.
