Resumption of subsidized helicopter services to the hilly districts of Jammu division during the winter season will provide respite to the people of these areas to great extent and the decision of the Union Territory (UT) administration is highly appreciable. This was stated by Arvind Gupta, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir BJP & Reasi district prabhari, while congratulating the people of the hilly districts for getting the helicopter services resumed for the travel/transportation purposes, particular during the winter seasons. Arvind Gupta said that the hilly districts of Jammu division namely Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, upper reaches of Bani and other similar areas receive heavy snowfall in winters every year, which causes lot of inconveniences to the people living there. He said that the means of communication are badly affected due to snowfall. The road transport almost comes to halt for many days and as a result the affected areas get totally disconnected from the outside world.
Arvind Gupta said that the salient feature of the resumption of helicopter services to the snow affected areas is that it will be a subsidized service and the people will get the facility at cheaper rates, which will, thus facilitate more populace to avail the benefits. He said that the service will also be a big boon for the shifting of the patients in case of emergency during the times when the road travelling is not possible due to snowfall and heavy rains. The heavy rains in these areas also causes landslides. He expressed hope that the administration will ensure hassle fee, regular service of the helicopter to the people in snow bound hilly districts.
