Mission Shakti, DHEW Jammu organises awareness campaign

District Hub for Empowerment of Women Jammu today organised an awareness programme on the women centric schemes at Village – Sohanjana of block Mandal Phallain in presence of Sarpanch Balbir Singh and Committee Members.
The motto of the camp was to aware the female population of the area regarding the women centric schemes and services of the Government for their Empowerment.
Sunil Kumar, Specialist in Financial Literacy of DHEW Jammu under Mission Shakti familiarized participants about the welfare schemes offered by the Govt. of India particularly for women & stressed on the need of gender sensitivity to promote equality among genders.
The DHEW Jammu assured them to facilitate provision of assistance with the help of the concerned Departments and provided detailed information regarding various schemes like scholarship schemes, SMAS(State Marriage Assistance Scheme for poor and needy girls), Pension schemes for old age, widow and physically disabled persons.
Eligibility criteria of different pension scheme, procedure to avail the benefits of different Government services & documents required for the enrollment. Schemes like Ladli Beti and SukanyaYojana for providing financial security to the girls, self employment schemes etc. Emergency helpline numbers for women (181), child (1098), Elder line (14567) Drug De-addiction (14446) were also shared.
