As per the initiative of the Department of Education, Govt of India to draw out the talent of the students in different fields of Art and Music, a two day UT level Kala Utsav 2023-24 was held in Teachers’ Bhawan Jammu by Samagra Shiksha J&K which culminated, the other day.
During the two day event, students from Kathua District won 4 First positions and 3 second positions in different art form categories.
The competition was held for male and female categories in 10 different art forms of Vocal Music (Classical), Vocal Music (folk), Instrumental Music (Percussion), Instrumen-tal Music (Melody), Dance (Classical), Dance (Traditional), Visual Art (2D), Visual Art (3d), Traditional Toys and Games and in Solo Acting category. In all 40 winners of previously held divisional level participated.
The winners had been chosen following a grueling competition held at school level, zonal level, district level and divisional level. The event witnessed 20 contestants each from Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
The District Kathua managed to secure 4 first positions & 3 second positions bringing home top overall positions among the districts.
The winners of first positions from district Kathua in different categories were Rubby from GHSS Kathua (Instrumental Percussion ) Pragati Mishra from APS Janglote(Classical Dance) Anshika Sharma from APS Janglote (Instrumental Melodic-F) and Sahira Tabasum from GHSS Billawar (Visual Art 3D).
The winners of this phase will be competing in a national level competition going to be held next month. Chief Education Officer, Kathua Kishore Kumar, congratulated all the winners and wished them best of luck for the next phase of the competition.
He said that it is all due to the endless efforts put in by the mentors and the support given by the respective Head of the Institutions.
He congratulated and appreciated all the stakeholders including the team of DICC, ZICCs and all the SICCs.
He specially appreciated the efforts by Ms. Monika Khosla , DICC and all ZICCs for bringing such success in the event and continually making efforts for making NEP 2020 a success and connecting students with their culture.He thanked worthy Director of School Education, Jammu division and the Cultural Cell, DSEJ for providing such a platform to our students to showcase their talent.
