ASCCONE Observes World’s AIDS Day

In a recent collaboration Acharya shrichander College of Nursing, ASCCONE joined hands with Red Ribbon Club, J&K AIDS Control Society,Jammu, under theaegis of Gaillardia chapter #16, J&K, Jammu to observe the World’s AIDS Day. The theme for this year’s commemoration was “LET COMMUNITIES LEAD” highlighting the crucial role that communities play in shaping the HIV/AIDS response. World’s AIDS Day serves an important occasion to reflect on the progress made in the fight against HIV/AIDS over the years. With advancements in Medical research, increased awareness and improved access to treatment, the management of this disease has undergone a transformative development.
During the event, Dr. Manu Bhatnagar, the Additional Project Director and chief guest from AIDS control society, Health and Medical Education department, emphasized the key role that Nurses play in preventing the spread of this devastating disease. She expressed her appreciation for ASCCONE students’ for their remarkable work, showcased through their informative charts during chart competition as well as in their impactful skit performance. Moreover, other officials who were present to witness the event were Mr. Nisar Ahmed Dar, Deputy Director, AIDS control society, Mr. RisheeshKhajuria, Assistant Director (IEC), AIDS control society, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Director (Youth Affairs), AIDS control society, Health & Medical Education.
Dr.Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS and Hospital also acknowledged the selfless contributions of J&K AIDS control society in the prevention of HIV/AIDS and drug addiction and he congratulated the authorities of J&K AIDS control Society,Jammu for their involvement and to achieve the desired goals for prevention and protection of this dreadful disease within a short period of time. Further, Dr. Pavan Malhotra appreciated the nursing students for their creativity and innovative techniques depicted in their charts to educate the masses.Dr.Ravinder Gupta, HOD, Pediatrics also witnessed the event. Meanwhile, Dr. IndraMoza, Principal (ASCCONE) warmly welcomed the esteemed guests and dignitaries, emphasizing the importance of education as a fundamental tool in the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The initiatives undertaken during the collaboration focused on the disseminating accurate information about safe practices, encouraging regular testing and empowering the individuals with knowledge to effectively curb the spread of HIV virus.
Under the able guidance of Dr.IndraMoza, Principal ASCCONE, a skit related to the theme was staged along with cultural activities were organized. During the event the guests were felicitated for their presence and vote of thanks was presented by Miss Shikha Bhandari, Assistant Professor, expressing gratitude towards everyone involved in making the event successful.
