District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Doda, under Mission Shakti, on Tuesday organised an awareness programme in Polytechnic College Doda to acquaint the students about women centric schemes.
The programme was attended by the staff of Government Polytechnic College along with the students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Gender specialist DHEW Humerah Balwan generated awareness about the social welfare schemes, eligibility criteria and the procedure to avail benefits of different Govt. schemes and programmes meant for the welfare of women viz. Integrated Social Security Scheme, UT Marriage Assistance Scheme, PMMVY, BBBP, Skill development courses offered by SBI RSETI, PMKVY, Women Entrepreneurship programme like PMEGP, Women Development Corporation, Tejaswini, etc.
She also explained about Sukanya Samridhi Yojana for the safe and bright future of girl child and also explained about the services being provided by One Stop Centre. Awareness about different departments working in the district for the assistance of women in distress like DHEW, OSC, women police station, and special cell for women was given to the attendees.
At the end of the programme, interactive question and answer sessions with the participants were held, and various queries were resolved. Awareness regarding Shakhi Niwas was also given to the students.
The Principal polytechnic college Doda also urged the students to convey the message to the deserving people so that they can avail the benefits of the schemes
