Cases of crime against minority Hindus in Pakistan are not stopping. The latest case is from Sindh province. A Hindu girl has been shot dead here. According to media reports, a miscreant was trying to kidnap the girl. Failing that, the miscreant shot and killed her.
The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Pooja Oad. According to the report published in ‘The Friday Times newspaper’, this incident is from the Rohi area of Sukkur. The fearless miscreant had tried to kidnap Pooja in the middle of the crossroads, when Pooja resisted, the accused fled after shooting her.
This is not the first such incident in Pakistan. Human rights activists reported that hundreds of Christian and Hindu girls are forcibly converted to Islam every year. They say that the minority communities of the country have been facing the issue of forced marriages and conversions for a long time.
Many human rights organizations have criticized the government of Pakistan for this. The organizations have said that the Pakistani government is not taking concrete steps regarding the crimes committed against Hindus and other minorities. Earlier in Sindh, the provincial government had attempted to prohibit forced conversions and marriages. However, religious protesters opposed the bill saying that girls convert to religion only after falling in love with Muslim men.
Pakistani journalist Nayla Inayat tweeted and wrote, ‘Hindu and Christian daughters are forcibly abducted, converted and married in Pakistan every day. Pakistan keeps watching all this as a spectacle. Wahid Lashari shot and killed 18-year-old Pooja for resisting the kidnapping.
