To review the progress of different Centrally sponsored schemes under implementation, the Member of Parliament (MP), Srinagar-Budgam-Ganderbal Constituency, Dr Farooq Abdullah Thursday, chaired a meeting of District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) of District Srinagar here at SKICC.
In the meeting, the mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattoo, Chairman District Development Council, Malik Aftab Ahmad, BDC Members, SMC Corporators, and members of local Panchayat bodies.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, gave a detailed overview of the developmental scenario and progress achieved under different schemes/programmes, particularly in implementing Centrally Sponsored Schemes through a PowerPoint Presentation.
Addressing the officers, the MP, Dr Farooq Abdullah, said that holding the DISHA meeting aimed to identify the developmental requirements and facilitate smooth implementation of govt schemes in the District.
The MP took a comprehensive review of various schemes being implemented by the RDD, PWD, PDD, PHE, Health, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Labour, Employment, Urban Development Department and other departments and asked the officers to work with dedication and missionary zeal and ensure that the benefits of all government schemes reach to the genuine beneficiaries in a time-bound manner besides disseminating information about these schemes.
He also stressed timely completion of all developmental projects and emphasized on elected Public Representatives to work in tandem with District Administration for effective outcomes of schemes.
The MP also asked officers to ensure the successful implementation of different self-employment schemes for providing job opportunities to the youth of the District.
While appreciating the District Administration for its work in various sectors, the MP stressed a prompt and efficient public delivery mechanism in the District and formulated plans for people’s overall prosperity and development.
The MP also called for collective contribution from one and all in fighting against the drug menace to eliminate it to save younger generations from the hazardous effects of drug abuse.
Later, Smart City Projects were also reviewed. Finally, the chairman DISHA committee gave his suggestions for better management of Smart City projects.
Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Athar Amir Khan, Chief Engineer, JKPTCL, Qazi Hashmat, Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Faz lul Haseeb, Chief Planning Officer, Yasin Lone, Programme Officer ICDS, Deputy Director Employment, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and all other sectoral and District Officers were also present during the meeting.
