Land Owners to Soon get Compensation for Land Acquired Under Delhi-Katra Expressway

In Jammu and Kashmir, the process of disbursement of compensation amount for the land falling under the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway has started. 150 crore has been released for seven villages of Kathua, the entry district of the state. Soon after issuing its notification, money will be given to the affected people this month. The work of construction of expressway in the state will start from April. Once the compensation process is completed, the work will pick up the pace. This process will start in the first phase from Ramnagar, Gandiyal, Majra, Bhagthali, Makhsoospur villages.

In the Kathua district, ​​165 hectares (407 acres) with green fields, i.e. fields orchards, will come under the JD of Delhi Katra Expressway. For this, compensation of more than 606 crores 94 lakh is given to the affected. In addition, an amount of 100 crores has been released by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the villages under package 14 and 50 crores for the villages falling under package 15.

In package 14, five villages are towards Keediya Gandiyal, and in package 15, the people of Hiranagar Guda Beldariya will get compensation. The project’s construction will also be started. Thirty-seven villages in the Kathua district come under green fields. The Delhi-Katra Expressway will enter the state from near the Keedian Gandiyal bridge.

This expressway passing through 279 villages will be 43.4 km long in the Kathua district, so that work will be started in this area along with the distribution of compensation. The work from this area up to Dhaloti has been allotted to one contractor, while beyond this till Kuta, the work has been assigned to another contractor. After the green field, the administration is busy fixing the compensation on the brownfield village of the district. In this, the final award process for four villages is going on in the final stage.
