Vehicle Trampled SPO in Udhampur, Driver Arrested in Ramban

An unidentified vehicle rammed SPO Karma Chand on duty late on Friday night at Venus Chowk in Udhampur, killing him on the spot. A vehicle has been caught in Ramban based on CCTV. The animals were being smuggled in. However, it has not been officially confirmed. The police are involved in the investigation of the matter. The body of the SPO has been handed over to the family members after post-mortem.

According to the information, vehicles are checked every day by putting up nakas in different city areas to catch the cattle and drug smugglers. Under this, a Naka was put up at Venus Chowk on Friday night. At around 2.30 pm, a speeding vehicle was signalled by the police to stop.

But the driver, breaking the block, hit the SPO Karma Chand (41), son of Bishan Das resident Samroli, standing in the forefront and escaping. SPO’s accomplices took him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

As it was night, the police could not see the number of the vehicle. The police immediately informed all the police stations. The vehicle was identified before the CCTV was installed in the Venus Chowk area.

According to sources, the vehicle that hit the road was caught by the police and the driver in the Ramban area. It is being told that the animals were being smuggled from the vehicle. So the driver did not stop the car and ran away, crushing the SPO. The post-mortem of the body was done in the morning in the presence of some family members. However, the police are not ready to say anything in this whole matter.
