The government has filed a case after receiving complaints of illegal adoption and selling of orphaned children due to Corona. Instructions have also been given to collect information about orphans in all the districts by constituting a fact-finding committee for the Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
The case is of Pampore in the Pulwama district. According to officials, news of illegal adoption and selling of children orphaned by Corona was released online. In this, an NGO made serious allegations against two people. Taking cognizance of this, Mission Director of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), Shabnam Kamili, directed the concerned officers to register a case against the accused at Pampore police station and take action.
Social Welfare Department secretary Sheetal Nanda asked IG Kashmir to take action. Meanwhile, Kamil asked all child welfare committees to personally meet the children orphaned by the Corona, already identified by the department. Along with making the complete details of these children available on the online portal of the Central Government, he was asked to provide them to the Directorate of ICPS.
