Relief amount of paddy crop damaged due to rain and hailstorm in Jammu and Kashmir will be deposited directly in the accounts of farmers. For this, information about the accounts of farmers is being collected. Although the accounts of farmers are already linked with Aadhaar under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Yojana and their information is with the Revenue Department, those who are not involved in it, their information is being collected.

The crops of more than one lakh farmers have been affected by rain and hailstorm. There are more than 80 thousand farmers in Jammu, Samba, Kathua who will get relief. Kathua DC Rahul Yadav says that the relief amount will go directly to the accounts of the farmers. So far, the relief amount has been transferred to about 10 thousand farmers. Therefore, there are only so many farmers left whose accounts will be collected, and a relief amount will be given.

At the same time, in Jammu and Samba districts, the money will go to the accounts of the farmers. However, the farmers say that so far, they have not received the relief amount. Twenty-two thousand eight hundred forty-four farmers are to get relief amount in Samba.

“Farmers’ crops have been damaged on a large scale. But they have to get the amount only under natural calamity. This, too, is being delayed. It is like cumin in the mouth of a camel. So far, only a few farmers have got compensation. More than half of the farmers have not got it. If the money is available by now, they can sow wheat without any hassle, because the next crop of the farmers depends on the earnings of the previous crop”, Tejinder Singh, President, Farmers’ Union, J&K.
