From this month, work will start on installing smart poles under the Smart City Project in the city. The residents of the city will get many facilities from a single pole. In these, the battery charging and pollution level will be known. These poles will be equipped with cameras, which will record the complete details of the movement of vehicles. Apart from this, advertising panels will be installed in it.
There will be an accessible internet facility due to the installation of WiFi in the pole itself. Apart from this, the electric wire will also pass through the pole itself. Earlier, separate poles were installed for electricity, telephone and other only. But now, it will be easy to avoid the damage caused by wire mesh and short circuits. Now the work on the pole is starting. For this, there is a preparation to give the job to a reputed company. After the poles are installed in selected places, poles will be installed in other areas.
This process will be in ten phases. More than 15 thousand smart poles are to be installed in the city. The LED light facility in the pole will also be available at night. More than a hundred meters of the area will be illuminated from a pole. The old pole will be removed, which will improve the city’s beauty and people will also get a friendly environment.
The pillars will be installed in Apsara Road, Raghunath Bazar, Gandhi Nagar, Bahu Plaza and other places in the city. After installing two hundred pillars in the first phase, the tender process will start for the installation of pillars in the second phase. Thus, the work is to be done in ten phases in the city.
Poles will not be damaged even in the storm.
Poles were often damaged due to earlier storms. Due to this, people had to face inconvenience. Now smart pole will be installed with modern technology. As a result, it will be less likely to collapse in a storm. The cameras will keep an eye on every incident.
The traffic police will no longer have to sweat to keep an eye on the drivers’ negligence by being stationed in the nakas. The cameras will be directly connected to the control room, and challans will also be deducted online. Apart from this, theft incidents will be curbed in the city. The incidents happening in the main intersections will continue to be captured in the cameras. “Tender process is going on for installation of smart poles in the city. The work will be started from next month. Poles are to be installed in Apsara Road first. After this, poles will be installed in other places”, Hitesh Gupta, Deputy CEO, Smart City Project Jammu.
