Services of Police in Jammu and Kashmir can now be availed at any time on smart mobile phones. The state government has started the much-awaited Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project GoLive. On Wednesday, the Lieutenant Governor also launched the mobile app JK e-Cop of the Police Department along with Go Live. Two hundred twenty-two police stations and 100 high-level offices have been added to these common man-friendly facilities.

From registering a complaint through mobile to help in an emergency, giving information, or getting real-time traffic information on other routes, including highways. Location, virtual numbers, complaints, applications and other features of police stations have been included in GoLive and JKEcop at a single click. The Lieutenant Governor said that these are people friendly services. In this, the police personnel will have to work in coordination and make policing effective.

This will bring about a vast improvement in the functioning of the police, while the common people will get convenience. Special DG Crime AK Chaudhary gave information about the CCTNS project and JK e-Cop mobile app. CCTNS will automate the functioning of police stations to make the functioning citizen friendly and more transparent. The Lieutenant Governor said that the mobile app should be made capable of running on all phones.

The app provides one-click access to locate the nearest police station and a panic button to send distress messages. It will give all essential helpline numbers to the public. Accidents and traffic violations can be reported along with availing citizen services. The public can get information about National Highway status, e-crime awareness, safety for tourists, foreigner registration, travel directions, senior citizens etc., on a real-time basis.
