Army personnel caught a man roaming under suspicious circumstances near the military camp in Purmandal at the district entrance. During the investigation, it was found that he is a resident of Myanmar (Rohingya). For the past few days, he has been hiding in the Badi Brahmin’s Teli Basti. Some Pakistan and Myanmar phone numbers have been found from the mobile phone recovered from the suspect, which is being investigated. The arrested Rohingya have been handed over to the Anti-Terrorist Squad Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police for further action so that they can interrogate thoroughly.
On Sunday evening, a jawan posted in the sentry post near the wall of the army brigade found a person there doing suspicious activities. He was talking to someone on the phone near the wall of the military camp. The sentry informed the authorities as his movement was suspicious. An identity card issued by the United Nations to the Rohingya people was found from the person arrested.
When his mobile phone was searched, suspicious phone numbers were also recovered. During preliminary interrogation, he told that he had reached Jammu by boarding a train. On his arrival in Jammu, he did not inform the local police about the same. Army officials informed the Jammu Police about the arrest of the suspect. A senior police official confirmed that the Rohingya were caught roaming near the military camp. The police officer said that the interrogation of the suspect was going on.
In view of the drone attack and significant terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few months, the army has asked its soldiers to be high alert. Be it the border, city or military camp, tight security arrangements have been made. Military personnel are keeping a close watch on every suspicious activity
