The road from Haft Chinar to Jahangir Chowk in Srinagar will be named Makhan Lal Bindru Road. This will be a tribute to his contribution to society. Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoo tweeted this information on Wednesday. He has said that the famous Hindu drug dealer Makhan Lal Bindru, who was shot dead by terrorists late on Tuesday evening, has his shop at Jehangir Chowk by the name of Bindru Mediket.
It is to be known that late on Tuesday evening, after entering Makhan Lal Bindru’s medicine shop near Iqbal Park in Srinagar, the terrorists started firing indiscriminately. As a result, Bindru was hit by several bullets, killing him on the spot. On the second day of the incident on Wednesday, Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoo and his party president Syed Altaf Bukhari visited Bindru’s house in Indira Nagar Sonwara. He expressed his deepest condolences to the family and said he was with them in this hour of grief.
After visiting Bindru’s house, Mattu said in a tweet that as a mark of respect and tribute, the road from Haft Chinar to Jahangir Chowk would be named Shaheed Makhan Lal Bindru Road. He said that a proposal to this effect would be formally brought to the General Council of the Srinagar Municipal Committee. Junaid Azim Mattoo also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the killing of Bindru. On the other hand, the fire of anger blazed in Jammu in protest against this incident. Besides Bindru, two other civilians were killed in Srinagar.
