On Friday, a 50-year-old man was mauled to death by a bear in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
According to the sources, a wild bear entered a village in Kokernag from a nearby forest. Before the locals could react, the bear attacked and critically wounded a man identified as Abdul Rasheed Bhatt.
The injured was rushed to hospital, where he was declared dead. The wild animal later returned to the forest.
After completing all medical and legal formalities, the deceased’s body was handed over to the family members for the last rites.
