Everestor Jigmet gets heroic welcome on his arrival in Leh

LEH: Everestor Jigmet Tharchin who successfully scaled Mountain Everest gets a heroic welcome on his arrival in Leh. Tingmosgang Councillor Sonam Dorjay, Lower Leh Councillor Tsering Namgyal, Nambardars and Sarpanches of both Tia and Tingmosgang village, Tia and Khaling Youth Association and family members, relative and well-wishers were present at the KBR Airport to accord a warm welcome.

He expressed his gratitude to UT Ladakh Administration and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils for providing him with financial assistance to represent UT Ladakh. He is the first civilian Individual from UT Ladakh to scaled Mountain Everest. Representing UT Ladakh Jigmet Tharchin scaled Mount Everest on 12th May. Talking to media Jigmet said that it was tough due to hostile weather condition but due to the blessing of Almighty he got success in scaling the world highest peak. He also informs that two of his fellow Mountaineers died while summiting the Everest with him on the same day.

After competing his Mountaineering course in 2014 from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering Uttarkashi Jigmet had claimed several peaks which are more than 7000 meters height before summiting Everest. Hill Council Chairman Adv Tashi Gyalson, MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, UT Ladakh Secretary, Youth Services & Sport Ravinder Kumar, LBA President Thupstan Chhewang congratulated Jigmet for his remarkable achievements in Mountaineering by summiting Mt. Everest while representing UT Ladakh for the first time.

Tingmosgang Councilor Sonam Dorjay urged UT Ladakh and Hill Council to award Jigmet Tharchin with financial assistance and land allotment to encourage the budding sports person in UT Ladakh.
