Ganderbal : The World health organisation (WHO) Wednesday sent 100 oxygen concentrators to Ladakh.

Officials said that they received 100 oxygen concentrators from the WHO.

The WHO team in Jammu and Kashmir delivered the oxygen concentrators by road at Leh to the concerned Ladakh officials, Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Pawan Kotwal and Iftikhar M Chaudhry of the National Health Mission.

The WHO vehicles carrying the concentrators were given a “green corridor” on the request of Police.

However, despite the “green corridor”, there were other challenges to traveling by road from J&K to Leh.

Despite snow and landslides blocking parts of the road, the WHO vehicles reached Leh within a day.Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal extended gratitude to WHO for providing 100 oxygen concentrators to Ladakh and requested to open a WHO office in Ladakh.

The number of deaths in Ladakh has reached 190 – 136 in Leh and 54 in Kargil while the number of Covid-19 active cases is 1581 – 1368 in Leh district and 213 in Kargil district
