KATHUA: In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of bovine smuggling from the society, district police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling attempt within the district and rescued 28 bovines, arrested 6 bovine smugglers and seized all the vehicles involved.
Police said today a team of Police Station, led by SHO, Inspector Sumit Sharma while on naka checking duty noticed a truck bearing Registration Number JK02X-5413 via Lakhanpur towards Jammu which was being driven by unknown person. On seeing naka party driver stopped the vehicle far behind the naka point and managed to fled away. On checking police found 12 bovines brutally tied with ropes in cruel manner which were being transported without any legal permission. They were rescued on spot. A case FIR No. 68/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11PCA Act was registered in Police Station, Lakhanpur and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
While in another instance Police team of PS Basohli during naka checking duty intercepted four suspected Mahindra load carriers bearing Registration Number JK08J-2585, JK08D-5989, JK08J-2595 and B08EG-0253 respectively. On checking 16bovines were found to be loaded in these vehicles illegally thus by making a total of 28 bovines which were rescued by District Police on spot. Thereafter police team arrested six persons namely Masoom Ali of Bani, Mohammad Bika of Jalandhar, Talib Hussain of Sathi Bani, Mohammad Yaseen, Ganesh Kumar and Muzafar Hussain all of Bani.
All the vehicles were seized. In this connection a case FIR No. 33/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Basohli and further investigation is underway.
