JAMMU: The National Health Mission (NHM) has released figures regarding the COVID-19 in J&K which revealed that 93 per cent of those who died of the infection in the last 29 days had not received their vaccine jab.

The figures released stated that the remaining 7 per cent of the deaths during the period were of those who were partially vaccinated. “An analysis of COVID mortality in J&K UT between April 15 and May 12 states that 93% of COVID +ve critical cases who died in this period were unvaccinated, 7% were partially vaccinated; Hence clearly establishing that vaccination hugely reduces chances of death,” the NHM said. It also said that the delay in the testing, as per the numbers, can also be fatal.

The Mission said that over 40 per cent of deaths occurred in few days after they tested positive for the COVID-19. “46% of deaths occurred within 3 days of testing +ve thus indicating that they were well into late stages of infection before they got tested. Don’t be in denial of your symptoms and get tested immediately so that treatment could start early,” the NHM said. It also released figures regarding the delay in the hospitalization and said that it directly increases the likelihood of mortality in the COVID cases as nearly 50 per cent of deaths were of those cases that witnessed a delay in the process of hospitalization.

“49.37% of total deaths were those who arrived just <=3 days before in the hospital. So, don’t self-medicate at home, reach your nearest triage hospital as soon as Oxygen level dips below 90,” the NHM stated.
