REASI: In a public outreach programme, Shailender Singh after joining as SSP Reasi, held a public interaction at District Police Lines Reasi to take first hand appraisal of the law and order issues from the citizens.
Prominent citizens of all ages from all walks of life in Reasi including chairpersons of Block Development Councils, Chairman Municipal Committee Reasi, Councillors, Sarpanchs and Panchs participated in the programme. Citizens highlighted various issues like growing menace of drug abuse in the society especially among the youth, problems related to scarcity of sand mining affecting the process of development as well as hurdles faced by individuals for their private constructions.
Senior Citizens also highlighted the encroachment made on footpaths causing choking of main bazaar super added by heavy traffic of bikers and four wheelers. SSP Reasi gave a patient hearing to all the speakers and assured that police is committed to public service and contribute its part in justice delivery system. He said the Reasi police will leave no stone unturned to uphold the rule of law for delivering justice and the drug peddlers will be dealt with iron hand. “No activity in the district will be allowed that hurts the religious sentiments of public. Procedures of public service in police will be rationalized, wherever possible, like verifications without compromising the police duty.
Crime against women will be dealt as per procedure laid in law,” he added. The SSP advised the shopkeepers to install CCTV Cameras on public participation basis till the Government installs CCTV network in the city.
He also highlighted new emerging threats of cyber crimes and threw light on counter measures.
