National Bajrang Dal protested outside the Press Club against the Government for building new wine shops in Jammu. They said that the shops would be built near the Temples and this would hurt their sentiments.
“The Government is doing wrong in building new wine shops. Jammu’s youth is already into drugs and alcohol. Let’s not give them more reasons to fall prey to these life destruction habits. Previous governments did the same thing. This is against the Supreme Court’s law.” the protestors said
“Only 4 new wine shops were constructed in Kashmir when people protested there. New wine shops would be built within 100 metres of Temples, this will hurt our faith and respect for our God. Jammu is the city of Temples and we will not let it become the wine adda.” they added
The members of Bajrang dal not only boycotted the building of new wine shops but also demanded the closure of old ones. “Leave the new ones, we want the old shops to get closed too.” they said
