Dalvinder bags gold in J&K Weightlifting

JAMMU: Dalvinder Singh bagged Gold in senior men’s 73 kg weight category in the two-day J&K UT Weightlifting Championship, organised by J&K Weightlifting Association in support with J&K Sports Council at Bhagwati Nagar Indoor Complex, here.

Second place in the same weight category went to Manpreet Singh. In 73 kg Junior category, first place was bagged by Manpreet Singh while Keshav Sharma secured second spot. Similarly, in Youth group of 73 kg, Mohammad Bhat clinched first place while Faizan Isrshaad and Jyotiraditya Slathia bagged second and third place respectively. The event was graced by the Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, who witnessed the competition and later gave away the medals. Speaking to the gathering of participants, she promised all support while laying stress on activities at the district level.

The Secretary was accompanied by the Administrative Officer, Riaz Ahmed, Divisional Sports Officer, Ashok Singh and Managers of the JKSC. Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Yudhvir Singh welcomed the chief guest and made her aware of the Weightlifting activities in J&K. The two-day competition shall conclude tomorrow.
