JAMMU: The J&K Service Selection Board convened 180th Board meeting under the chairmanship of Khalid Jahangir, Chairman, J&K Service Selection Board to consider an urgent court matter, cancellation of selection and forthcoming Class IV Examination.

The meeting was attended by Mohammad Shaifq Chak, Nazir Ahmad Khawaja, Pritam Lal Atri, Harvinder Kour, Ashiq Hussain Lily, Prof. Tasleema Peer, Members of J&K Services Selection Board, Musheer Ahmad Mirza, Controller of Examination, Sachin Jamwal Secretary JKSSB and Jung Bahadur, Special Secretary, Law. During the meeting, item wise discussion was held on the agenda and after due consideration, appropriate decisions were taken. It was decided to cancel the candidature of a candidate for the post of driver advertised vide notification No. 03, 04 and 05 of 2019, Item No. 40 (Health & Medical Education Department) for GMC (Doda, Rajouri and Kathua) in view of his ineligibility with respect to the criteria prescribed for the said post. Besides, the Board decided to issue the recommendation in favour of a candidate for the post advertised vide Notice No. 04 of 2006 dated 29.12.2006 and withdraw the notification No. 12 of 2013 dated 31.12.2013 in respect of Item No. 923 in compliance with the judgement passed by the High Court. Apart from this, the Board decided to completely switch over to computer based test (CBT) mode in near future for the reasons of efficiency & transparency. It was noted that the Services Selection Board has been conducting examination in CBT mode to the extent possible but due to deficiency and paucity of IT related infrastructure and other hindrances the Board has been constrained to conduct OMR based Exams.

To overcome shortage of IT Labs, it was felt expedient to take up the matter with Industries and Commerce Department for asking them to work towards the establishment of IT Labs by Entrepreneurs so that the Board and the other recruiting agencies shall be able to take the benefits to conduct CBT based exams smoothly, even if there will be larger number of candidates appearing / participating in the examination.
