Heartless mother dumped a newly born child in an open area in the heart of Leh city. Infant left at the mercy of God found dead in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Some passerby noticed the infant body near a heap of garbage and informed the police immediately. Surprisingly large number of stray dogs in the area didn’t harm the infant body, infact one dog found guarding the body. FIR under relevant section has been registered against the mother at Police Post Housing Colony. As per sources mother aged about 26 years was staying alone in a rented accommodation in Snemoling at the time of her arrest. The mother reportedly threw the illegitimate child soon after its born. As per report the unmarried lady gave birth to the child in her rented accommodation where she was staying alone. This brutality incident had sent a wave of shock across Leh city. Infant body had been sent for postmortem and report awaited. District Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Dr. Konchok Paldan when contacted said that since the child was found dead, the CWC has no role in it however he suggested to setup Cradle Baby Reception Centre in Leh to avoid such incident in future. He also added similar incident also occurred in the past where new born was found abandon in a similar condition.
