Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar today said that the number of good air days are continuously increasing and the bad air days are decreasing in the pollution affected states. The Minister said, good air days have increased to 182 from 108 days during the last four years due to the coordinated steps taken by the Centre and States. He said, stubble burning is one of the cause of the pollution and the Centre has provided machines for burning the stubble. He added that trials will be done on the new decomposer machine developed by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research for decomposing the stubble. Javadekar was speaking with the media after the meeting held with the Environment Ministers and officials of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The meeting was held to disucss the action plans of the various agencies for controlling the pollution level in these states. He urged the people to give their support in the fight against pollution which will be continued in the upcoming days. Listing out the various initiatives taken by the Union Government to reduce the pollution level, Javadekar said, Peripheral Expressway, Bio-CNG, Bio-Power and waste management rules have played instrumental role in curbing the pollution level.
