The 74th Independence Day of India, was celebrated at the University of Jammu with patriotic fervour and zeal. Keeping Social Distancing intact and observing SOPs related to Covid-19 pandemic, a representative gathering of teaching faculty, officers, staff of University of Jammu participated in the function. Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu hoisted the National Flag at the Fountain Plaza. Prof. Dhar, while greeting the University fraternity, spoke about the spirit of nationalism, integrity, peace and brotherhood. He also expressed his gratitude towards the corona warriors of the Country in general and of the University in particular who are resiliently fighting against the pandemic and are resolute to get the Nation out of its clutches. Prominent amongst those who attended the Flag Hoisting Ceremony included Prof. Rajni Dhingra, (Dean Research Studies), Prof. Neetu Andotra (Registrar), Prof. Rajni Kant (Controller of Examinations), Prof. Kulwant Singh (Director, Directorate of Distance Education) Deans, Rectors, Directors and faculty members of the University. On this occasion, a special Musical Evening featuring famous Duggar Siblings Roohi & Juhi was also organized online which was attended and appreciated by a sizable gathering. They presented choicest patriotic and folk songs on public demand. Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu was the Chief Guest at the occasion who appreciated the talent of Roohi and Juhi who are doing wonderful task of promoting their own culture and language. The programme was anchored by Dr. Garima Gupta, Assistant Dean SW. The whole event was organized under the stewardship of Prof. Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare and Prof. Anupama Vohra, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee. The event was monitored by Prof. Samridhi Arora, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Dr. B.K. Bajaj, Associate Dean SW, Dr. Garima Gupta and Dr. Pritam Singh, Assistant Deans SW, Capt. S.R. Dubey, Chief Security Officer, Mansi Mantoo Media Officer, Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer, Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor and R.S. Bandral, Sr. P.A. to DSW. The management was looked after by Kulbhushan Thakur, Balwant Singh and Arif Paul.
