Preparatory meeting for induction of Army, BRO vehicles held

In light of the COVID-19, a preparatory meeting for developing the modalities of induction of Army, BRO and Paramilitary vehicles into Ladakh held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Saugat Biswas. IG Police, Satish Khandare ; IG ITBP Deepam Seth; Chief Engineer Project Himank, Brig Arvinder Singh; Station Commander Leh, Brig Arun CG, Chief Engineer Project Vijayak Kargil, Brig Amit Sohal and other officers were participated in the meeting. Detailed deliberations took place in the meeting in which strategy of moving trucks carrying essential commodities, supplies, fuel and bitumen etc while maintaining utmost COVID related precautions were discussed. He (Div Com) asked the BRO and Army authorities all COVID-19 related precautionary measures must be taken during the off-loading and on-loading of materials and engagement of labourers. IG Police Satish Khandare also stressed upon strict adherence to various measures in relation to labourers, their accommodation facility in the wake of COVID-19 at camps or centres, proper identification, quarantine facility for the on-leave troops and outside labourers. Div Com was informed that an estimated 700 number vehicles carrying the several materials will enter Ladakh till the first week of May during the period of lockdown. The Leh-Manali road which is expected to open in the first week of May will get further loads of the Army and BRO vehicles for which a separate strategy will be conducted by the authorities in the coming days.
