The Centre has notified that 138 Acts will stand modified, adapted or repealed as the case may with immediate effect in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Through an order notified in the Gazette on Tuesday, the Union Home Ministry said: “With immediate effect, the Acts mentioned in the schedule to this Order stall until repealed or amended by a competent Legislature or other competent authority, have effect, subject to the adaptions and modifications directed by the said Schedule, or if it is so directed, shall stand repealed.” The order repealed 24 State laws, including The Agriculturists Relief Act, 1983, the J&K government aid to Agriculturists and Land Improvement Act, The J&K State Aid to Industries Act, 1961, The J&K Civil Services (Special Provisions) Act, 2010, J&K State Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1997, J&K Deputy Ministers Salaries and Allowances Act and Deputy Speaker’s Act, 1957, J&K State Emergency Relief Fund Act, 1960. It also amended the rest while repealing two sets of law as applicable to the UTs of J& K and Ladakh in each other’s territories, the scheduled said. An amendment also describes domicile for purposes of facilities and employment.
