4 shopkeepers arrested for defying restrictions: Police

Police on Wednesday said it arrested four shopkeepers for defying the prohibitory orders issued under section 144 to prevent spread of coronavirus infection. An official said a police party from police station Safapora led by SHO Sajad Khanday arrested two shopkeepers after they were found defying the prohibitory orders. Similarly, two shopkeepers were arrested from Satrina and Margund areas by a police party from police station Kangan led by SHO Aftab Ahmed for defying the restrictions. “The restrictions imposed are for greater good of people and it will be prudent to stay at home to reduce the chances of exposure to Covid-19. Social distancing and personal hygiene are the only ways of stopping the spread of this infection,” said SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmed Poswal. He said the violators will be dealt strictly under law. Earlier on Tuesday, police has arrested at least eleven persons for defying prohibitory orders and seized 10 tippers.
