Quarantine centres set-up in many Kashmir districts

The government on Sunday said it has set-up quarantine facilities across different districts of Kashmir. In Bandipora, the administration has set up 18 quarantine centres for people arriving from outside J&K to prevent spread of the infection in the district. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Reyaz Ahmad Beigh has been designated as nodal officer to ensure adequate arrangements in these centres as per SOPs prescribed by Union Health Ministry.Ahmad has been asked to ensure close coordination with Office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; Director, Airport Authority Srinagar; police and health department.The District Information Centre (DIC) Bandipora launched an awareness campaign across the district to educate general public about various precautions, Do’s and Donts’ regarding Corona virus. Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza constituted five-member committee headed by District Information, Jahangeer Akhoon with an aim to launch intensive and focused door-to-door campaign.Akhoon said the campaign shall continue next week. He said the teams were visiting remote villages and informing people about the precautions.In Pulwama, the authorities occupied new buildings for quarantine facilities at Pulwama, Awntipora, Pampore and Tral.In Kupwara, district magistrate, Anshul Garg designated additional District Development Commissioner as nodal officer for quarantine centres established in the district.The supervisory officers for the centres have been designated to assist and report to the nodal officer on daily basis for ensuring arrangements.In Ganderbal, the DC, Shafqat Iqbal visited Quarantine centers of the district. The DC inspected the facilities made available there including bedding, electricity, water, toilets and directed the officers to ensure that the places earmarked for quarantine shall be certified with all facilities.The district administration has also earmarked Youth Hostel Sonamarg, Government Degree College Kangan, JNV Hatbura and J&K Saink School Manasbal for accommodation of persons to be quarantined if need arises.The SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, Chief Medical Officer, Ganderbal and Tehsildar accompanied the DC on the occasion.In Baramulla, the DC Ghulam Nabi Itoo inspected several places, including Degree College for Boys, Boys Hostel Baramulla, Saint Joseph Hospital and other institutions in order to take appraisal of various arrangements for setting additional quarantine centres.
