An awareness programme was held at mini secretariat here on precautions needed to be taken amid the Coronavirus scare. The programme was organized by district health society and was chaired by District Development Commissioner, Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC urged the officers to take preventive measures including frequent hand wash in the offices and avoiding large gatherings. He asked the officers to organize more camps to aware people about preventive measures they need to take to avert the infection. Chief Medical Officer presented a power point apprising people about precautionary measures and steps to be taken in this regard. He said district health society was fully prepared to meet any exigency. Among others, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Medical Officer and other district officers were present on the occasion. Meanwhile, on the instructions of District Development Commissioner (DDC), Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganai, municipality committee today sprayed disinfectants at district hospital and other crowded placed in the town to contain spread of Coronavirus. The drive was spearheaded by the EO municipality Budgam, Anis Chowdary. During the drive, cleanliness activity was held and masks, pamphlets were distributed among employees and commoners to create awareness about prevention of COVID-19. Meanwhile, chairman municipal committee Budgam, Rohullah Gazi said the body will also start fumigation drive at market places and busy roads to prevent the spread of infection. The designated Food Safety Officer Budgam, Yamin Nabi conducted inspection of restaurants and others food outlets to check adherence of prescribed guidelines in this regard. During the inspection, some restaurants were put on notice for failing to meet the sanitation guidelines. The inspection team inspected kitchens, washrooms and other facilities at these food outlets and sensitized the restaurant staff including waiters and cooks about proper maintenance of hygiene in the premises.
