Traffic restored on Srinagar-Jammu highway after landslides

After remaining closed for brief period owing to shooting stones and landslides, the Srinagar-Jammu bnational highway was opened for vehicular traffic on Saturday. An official said the traffic remained affected for till Sunday afternoon and all the vehicles en-route Valley were stopped at Udhampur, and Peera Chandrkote, Ramban and other places. The official said the decision toi halt traffic was taken after fresh landslide at Monkey Morh and Battary Chasma. “More than three thousand vehicles including trucks carrying essential commodities remained stranded on the highway,” said the official. The highway was however restored after the authorities pressed in service men and machinery to clear the landslides and shooting stones.
