The Department of Bioresources, University of Kashmir held an awareness programme on Coronavirus on Sunday. The programme was attended by scientists, health workers and research scholars from various departments of the University and others institutions like Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and SKUAST Kashmir. During the program, a detailed hands-on training on hygiene and control measures was provided to the participants. Safety precautions like availability of face masks, hand sanitizers and disinfection of the venue was adopted at the meeting. Head, Department of Community Medicine, GMC, Srinagar Prof Shahzada Muhammad Saleem Khan talked about epidemiology of the Coronavirus pandemic while as Dr Inamul Haq gave detailed information, local hospital preparedness and hands-on training as how to prevent transmission of Coronavirus. Virology Expert and DBT Welcome Trust Fellow from SKUAST, Kashmir, Dr Nadeem Shabir deliberated upon the immunobiology of SARS CoV-2 virus. Earlier, the programme started with the welcome address and introduction to Coronavirus by Coordinator of Bioresources Department, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Mir, followed by introduction about American Society for Microbiology by its young ambassador to India, Dr Peer Abdul Haseeb Shah. He concluded the session with vote of thanks to all the participants.
