The Indian Army, under Operation Goodwill (also called Operation Sadbhavna) organised a Sports Promotional Week for the Government Schools of remote and border area of Marh Zone, Jammu. The event was conducted to boost and revive the sports culture in the border regions of Jammu based on the requests made by the locals. The project was conducted by Damana Batallion under Chenab Brigade and Tiger Division. Boys and Girls from various Schools for Marh Zone viz GHSS Gho Manhasan, Government School Damana, GHSS Jhiri, Government Girls School Marh actively participated in the volleyball and badminton matches conducted over a week. The event attracted a large gathering of more than 500 people from areas of Marh and Damana who had all the praises for the army for conducting such event to promote the sports culture at school level. A large number of civil dignitaries also attended the mega sports event. Army which has long standing tradition of fostering the spirit of sports and adventure has been playing a stellar role in promoting the sports activities among the youth of Jammu. The closing ceremony was held at General Zorawar Army Ground, Damana Military Station in which Chief Guest, Brigadier K K Singh, Cdr, Chicken Neck Brigade felicitated the winners and encouraged the participants for their active participation in the tournament.
